Mentor Q & A

Do older cats prefer to have other cats around them or do they prefer to be alone?
About seven years ago we acquired a pair of kittens, a Bombay female and a Burmese male. When the male reached maturity, he began to pursue our older resident neutered male cat. We separated the older male, Tippy, so that the Burmese, Sinbad, wouldn't attack him. On a few occasions, however, Sinbad gained access to Tippy's domain and almost killed him. Is there a way to affect a peaceful resolution to this problem without actually keeping them completely separated from each other? Sinbad is otherwise the most loving and intelligent cat we have ever had.
